Psychodynamic Counselling in Chessington and London Bridge

Mike Broadbent – Psychodynamic Counsellor

DipHE (Dist) Psychodynamic Counselling
MBACP (Accred.)
BSc (Hons)

Further specialist training in sexual abuse, dissociative disorders and transgender identities.

As well as my general counselling experience I have worked in a specialist LGBT/sexuality/relationships agency, The Albany Trust.

Locations Chessington and London Bridge.

I am experienced in working with a range of issues including depression, anxiety, isolation, relationship issues, dealing with past trauma/abuse, transgender and sexuality.

I offer weekly short-term and open ended counselling, including over Skype. I work psychodynamically which means that I look for repeating patterns originating in the past that are causing problems in the present. I believe that problems can be resolved by working with the present and the past in tandem.

Psychodynamic counselling works well for long-standing issues such as low self-esteem, depression and anxiety as well as problems at work or with relationships. These problems often have their roots in childhood, for example, a depressed mother, parental break-up, abuse, early life bereavement. These events or situations can leave their mark until they are brought to light and processed as an adult in the counselling setting.

I have rooms in two locations: In Chessington, as part of the Surrey Centre for Natural Health and in London Bridge, as part of The Bridge Therapy (in the offices of the Psychosynthesis Trust).

I offer evening appointments in Chessington and daytime appointments in London Bridge. Both locations have step-free access.
